Drive opens in new window when double click in windows XP : This is the most annoying problem faced by many computer users. First we like to suggest you check the options if you have changed them accidently Check the option under “General tab” in “Folder Options”. If everything is fine the problem may be due to virus attack.
If it is a virus problem follow these steps:
1) Go to “Start Menu” and click on “Run“.
2) Type “regsvr32 /i shell32.dll“
3) Click “Ok”.
If get this message “DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shell32.dll succeeded” it means that the problem is solved.
If not you have to edit the registry settings which has to be done with care
1) Go to “Start Menu” and click on “Run”
In Run type “regedit.exe” to open the registry editor.
Navigate to “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Directory/Shell”
2) Double click on the default value on right and set it as “none”.
3) Repeat the same procedure for the key “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Drive/Shell“.
Done!!… Your problem should be solved by now.
