Use Windows 7 Without Installing

Many expectations are running around with Windows 7, this new operating system from Microsoft is still in BETA testing. Many of the techies are interested to have a hand on it but they don’t want to risk there existing Operating System partition.

Going for new hard disk for this sake is not a good idea, TechFlag suggest trying Windows 7 on a virtual machine, which is the best option left. This process is 100% safe and completes within 40 minutes on an average configured P4 computer.

A virtual machine installation helps to try Windows 7 inside an existing Operating System as a guest operating system. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and Sun VirtualBox are the best virtual machine installations which can be used to solve the purpose.

TechFlag suggest Sun VirtualBox as it has added benefits.

1) First download and install Sun VirtualBox.
If you have the download links its fine, or else click here to download.

2) Hope you have already downloaded and obtained a license key for Microsoft Windows 7 Beta.

3) Launch VirtualBox and click the New button to start setting up Windows 7 virtual machine.

4) Now enter the name of your choice and select OS type as Windows Vista. (Don’t worry what you are doing is 100% correct)

5) Now choose the amount of RAM you want Windows 7 to use.
1 GB is strongly recommended.

6) Now you will be asked to create a Virtual Hard-disk which will be used to install Windows 7 and appear as a hard disk in Windows 7. If the size is set to be dynamic it can expand when required.

7) Now define the minimum size and file-location.

8) Finish the Wizard to get back to main window, now select the newly created Virtual machine and click settings.

9) Go to CD/DVD-ROM option and check “Mount CD/DVD Drive” and select the ISO Image File option, Click the small folder icon to add the Windows 7 ISO file.

10) Virtual Media Manager window will appear Click Add button and browse for the Windows 7 ISO file.

11) Configure other options like Network and USB as per your requirement.

12) Click OK to close the dialog box.

13) Windows 7 Virtual machine is now ready.
Select it and click the Start button.

14) Virtual machine will start booting from the virtual CD/DVD ROM using the Windows 7 ISO to launch the setup process.

15) Select the Custom (advanced) installation method.

16) Setup new user Account.

17) Enter Windows 7 serial key to activate your copy.

18) If activated Windows 7 will finalize settings and present the logon window.

19) Windows 7 setup is now completed
It is ready to use like a normal operating system.

20) Windows 7 may ask to install an antivirus.
The following antivirus software’s are compactable with Windows 7.

Kaspersky AV for Windows 7
Norton 360 Version 3.0 Beta
AVG Anti-Virus
Eset NOD 32
BitDefender 2009 Total Security
Avast! AntiVirus Home (Freeware)

Thanks!!! this has helped me to install Windows 7 without spoiling my current operating system. The only disadvantage is it takes much time to install and boot, I think I need to improve my system configuration.
